They also serve paniyaram and white rice …
A lot of village food options are available
If you are a true village food fan then this is the place for you… if not you go for idly with non-veg dishes or rice with non-veg dishes for lunch….
A small place with limited seating… but the food is worth the try
The liquid nitrogen frozen biscuits or smoking biscuits had at a price of 50 INR per piece…. Or 3 wafers for 50 rs…
The liquid nitrogen is poured into a bowl where the biscuits are kept which freezes the biscuits in seconds… when we have the frozen biscuits cool smoke comes out of our mouths and nostrils… a good theater ..
There is not much of a taste difference between the normal biscuit versus the frozen .. but you can try it for the show and the smoke…
If you are here try the fire beeda… although I did not get a chance to do so…
This place is called the soakku hotel which is situated 7 km from Salem at a place called sarkar kollapatti, which serves rice with mutton curry, mutton intestine, and country chicken curry from 8 in the morning….There are no tiffin items here. Rice with non-veg dishes, rasam, and curd right from 8 in the morning…
The mutton curry tasted amazing .., the thannni kulambu with rice was a great combination…
Since I went here early I did not get a chance to try the mutton intestine and country chicken curry… so if you have plans to go here I would recommend going in the afternoon so that you get more non-veg options…
If you want to try rice in the morning then 9 or 9.30 in the morning will be a perfect time…
This place is an interior village… the roads may be small ….
A great food experience that I recommend you to try…
A Srilankan Food Fest was held for 3 days at Karur KRV Meridian hotel. Costing 499 INR per head, the Srilankan food fest was a spread of many food items from the Srilankan menu…
Though few food items were not Srilankan, Justice was done to much Srilankan food that had its original flavours….
The welcome drink was a tender coconut and a kamban kool ( Pearl millet gruel)
Though the kamban kool is not a part of the Srilankan food it tasted good.
The buffet started off with a herbal soup which was a simple soup with lots of coriander, mint and curry leaves… it tasted ok
Then to start there were sambol scotched boiled eggs, fish patties, squid fry and banana flower fry. The fish patties and the squid fry tasted excellent. The banana flower fry tasted like a normal pakkoda.
Then there was puttu which was ragi puttu.. the ragi puttu is usually not seen in Srilankan.. people there prefer puttu made of maida or red rice. This puttu with a channa curry is more of a Kerala dish.
Then there was brown rice which is also not a Srilankan menu.., people consume red rice in Srilanka.. there is a variety of rice called the red naadu which is mostly used along with samba variety and keeri samba variety. They also had this yellow flavoured rice which tasted good...
There were a few vegetable gravy dishes like drumstick gravy, mixed vegetables gravy, and mango curry.
The coconut stew chicken curry and lamb curry were very excellent .. the chicken meat was so tender and tasted awesome.
The prawn curry was also good.
They had coin parotta which you don’t see in Srilanka.., They could have kept the Srilankan coconut roti which is the most consumed dish in Srilanka…
At the live counter, they had appam with coconut sambol, seeni sambol, nethili sambol.. the appam was more of Indian style, because the Srilankan appam is crisper .. the seeni sambol was exactly like the Srilankan seeni sambol…they also had kothu parotta in the live counter and it also tasted good.
For dessert, there was wattalappam and pancake. The wattalappam was extremely good and had the original Srilankan flavours. The pancake was stuffed with coconut and jaggery stuffing and topped with honey which was also superb…--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paarambariyam mess is situated in kotai area of Salem city. As its name suggests .., it is a 100 % home-cooked meal. The owners a young couple have started this venture recently keeping in mind of proving quality food without MSB, daalda, coloring, and refined oils…
The quality of the materials they use can be felt in the dishes… a fabulous afternoon lunch that I truly enjoyed…
We ordered the chicken biryani, non-veg meals, mutton pepper fry, chicken pepper fry, prawn thokku, and prawn roast.
All the dishes tasted excellent.., without much spicy ness and a truly homemade taste. The chicken biryani looked normal but it had so many flavors in them which I truly enjoyed.

When there are places that serve a single dish for 230 or 250 rs, This place serves an entire lunch with 8 to 9 nonveg dishes with gravies separately and unlimited rice….
KRB Namma Veetu Virunthu in Salem is a mess run by a family. The lady of the house runs this place and does all the cooking having 2 maids to help.
For 300 rs they serve you rice, mutton varuval, mutton head curry fry, mutton intestine fry, mutton blood fry, pepper chicken fry, deep fried chicken leg, deep fried fish piece, an egg also mutton curry, chicken curry, rasam, and buttermilk…
The dishes tasted extremely good.., you could feel the homemade taste in each of these dishes. The only drawback I felt was the mutton head curry had a little mutton smell to it. Though it tasted good the smell was a little annoying. But other than that I enjoyed each and every bite of my meal…
You don’t need gravy .., the gravy in these nonveg dishes is more than enough to mix it in the rice and eat… the hot rice mixed with these nonveg dishes was heaven…
The best was the pepper chicken fry and blood poriyal …
A MUST-TRY PLACE IN SALEM……
The snacc box is a perfect place in Salem if you want to grab a quick bite. This place is not a franchisee and is run by this youngster.
Here at snacc box, these youngsters have come up with innovative burgers and waffles varieties. The patties that they use in these burgers are also made by them.
I had the Rolex sir burger and the ice cream waffles. The Rolex burger was served with a knife cutting through the burger with spicy sauce decorated as blood…. And just when you are having your burger you will hear the Rolex BGM from the movie Vikram… though the burger tasted good the waffles was the dish that impressed me…. Crispy on the out and soft on the inside with ice cream and choco chips the waffles was just amazing to eat….
The lemony mint mojito was also good….
A definite to visit place that you will enjoy.
Are you a fan of mutton dishes? If yes then this is the right place for you. Rajendran hotel situated in the gugai area of Salem is not a fancy place. A small hotel that has been serving its customers breakfast and lunch for almost 40 years….
For breakfast, there are idly, parotta, dosa varieties with mutton fry, mutton intestine, mutton kadambam ( liver, spleen ), and country chicken chops fry…
A fantastic tasty dish to satisfy your taste buds.
For lunch, there are mutton biryani and country chicken biryani which I plan to try the next time I visit Salem…….
Cost of dishes-
Mutton intestine- 120 INR
Kadambam- 230 /-
Mutton fry - 230/-
Country chicken - 230/-
A fantastic breakfast that I recommend you to try.
A Trampoline park that is fun-filled entertainment. A great place for kids, school and college students.
They charge 300 INR for all games per hour on weekdays and 400 INR on weekends. If you prefer separate games then there are different combo offers available.
You will need to buy a pair of socks to go into the trampoline. If you are planning to return to this place then you can keep the socks safe for your return later.
There are games here that can keep you busy for an hour or more.., there is also wall climbing .
A fun-filled place that you must visit with friends and family
This Dhaba-style restaurant is situated on the outskirts of Coimbatore.., having an abundant parking space and a lovely ambiance this place is a crowd puller mainly because of its food and its ambiance.
Maybe since this place is quiet from the hassle and noise of the city people prefer coming here..
The side dishes all tasted great… their specialty being sea foods…
The main course like the naan, chicken gravies, and fried rice all tasted good..
A must-visit place to have a relaxed dinner with family and friends from the noisy and crowded city
Started in the year 1973, this hotel serves breakfast and lunch.
Situated in Avinashi on the avinashi to Coimbatore road.., Sri Ambal is a non-veg specialty
For breakfast there is mutton and mutton intestine… the main course being idly, parotta, and dosa varieties…
The mutton intestine with parotta was a good combination that had a lovely taste. I preferred the parotta to idly.
The mutton portion was little.., justified for 140 rs
. I felt it was a little undercooked …
If you are in Avinashi, and looking for a non-veg breakfast or non-veg lunch then Sri ambal n.v hotel is the right place for you
