True to its name, this maanthottathu Virunthu hotel is situated on a farm. Not many mango trees are seen .., because the hotel is separated from the farm. Although the dining area has seats for few people it looks cozy with a village-type look.

This place has its own country chicken and kadaknath chicken farm. The kadaknath chicken is a black chicken, where the meat is also black and tastes better than a country chicken. This meat is said to have good medicinal value. Here all the meat is cooked in a clay pot. Even the rice is cooked in a traditional way where the water is drained. Although there were a lot of dishes in the country chicken, I went for a combo pack where we get most of the side dishes but in a lesser quantity… Ordered a non-veg meal where I get rice with mutton kulambu, country chicken kulambu, and dry fish kulambu … For side dishes, the combo pack had chicken pepper fry, kadaknath chicken fry, chicken Pallipalayam, chicken sinthamani, chicken nallampatti, mutton intestine, and mutton fry.

The country chicken pepper fry had a punch of curry leaf and pepper to it, the taste was different and very good… The kadaknath chicken fry was the star dish, the meat itself tasted very good. This place is a specialty for kadaknath chicken so if you are here don’t miss out on this dish…

The Pallipalayam and nallampatti also were equally good. Had a really amazing taste to them.

The mutton intestine was good but when compared to other dishes it tasted average. The mutton fry also was good .., no complaints about the mutton dish. Although I did not like the country chicken biryani… the non-veg meals with sides were a true Gramiya Virunthu ( village feast) I suggest that you go for non-veg meals with kadaknath chicken, nallampatti chicken, and Pallipalayam chicken. The breakfast timing starts at 7.30 am. For breakfast, there is idly, dosa varieties, parottas, etc., for non-veg they serve Kudal ( mutton intestine) curry

The mutton intestine Curry is one the best Kudal dishes that I had in a long time... The spiciness to it was perfect and so were all the flavors.., perfectly balanced!! They also fry the intestine and give .. the Kudal is tossed with pepper, onions, and curry leaves… this enhances its taste and is also served hot...

The combination of the soft parotta with the mutton intestine fry is really amazing .. The whole place was packed with regular customers who were all locals … the mutton intestine was over around 9.30 am .,, so if you want to taste this delicious dish then being here around 8 or 8.30 am would be perfect …. I wouldn’t recommend dosa varieties from here go for parrots with mutton intestine fry … Will be visiting Kumaran mess for lunch which is for another post soon! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went here for lunch and ordered the chicken biryani, the non-veg meals, mutton sinthamani, naatukoli uppukari, nethali pepper fry, pigeon roast, and SK Maman machan special chicken... The Chicken biryani had a chicken leg piece and an egg.., it had a strong flavor to it, but other than that the taste was good... The chicken biryani can be improved. The non-veg meals were good... I would recommend this meal if you are here.., the country chicken kulambu, the fish kulambu, the patcha puli rasam, and the curd were excellent in this combo... A must try...

The pigeon roast was also good.., The SK maman machan special chicken is a Chinese-style dish and is a good starter... Chicken is deep-fried, tossed in sauce, and packed in an omelet.. a must-try one... Although the above-said dishes were good.., dishes like mutton sinthamani, naatukoli uppu kari, and nethali pepper fry were a disappointment.. the preparation of these dishes is done in a Chinese style which won't give the exact taste. If you are here for the evening, you get tandoori bread, naans, tandoori chicken, etc.., This place can be tried if you are passing by !!

The whole puttu set is then packed in the containers using those manual machines…

I tried the curry leaf chicken puttu and the chili garlic puttu… Though both had an overpowering flavor of curry leaf and chili garlic to them, when mixed with the Puttu they tasted good… The coconut curries that were given along with the puttus also tasted good… The wheat parotta with a Kerala-style egg curry was also good, the egg curry had coconut pieces in them and was made with coconut oil… Two wheat parotta with egg curry ( 2 eggs) costs 140 rs which I feel is a bit expensive…. The chicken sandwich puttu with gravy and jaggery costs 120 INR. Just like ‘ The wedding biryani’ in Chennai, the SS Hydrabad biryani at Gandhipuram serves a panthi type wedding feast. The wedding feast combo is available only in this branch of SS Hydrabad Biryani for now!! . There are 2 combos that you can choose from, the mutton combo and the chicken combo.

The mutton biryani combo has mutton biryani with 3 big pieces of mutton where the biryani rice is unlimited…, deep fried chicken leg piece, bread alwa, onion raitha, brinjal curry, egg, 200 ml soft drink, beeda, and kulfi…

The chicken biryani too had the same combo …

The taste was amazing, the basmati used were long grain and had a true Muslim biryani or Chennai biryani flavor.. the mutton pieces were so tender and so sumptuous to bite into it… the biryani together with the mutton pieces was so good … the chicken leg piece was good just like any other leg piece… the biryani with raitha as well as the brinjal curry was also equally good…

The bread alwa is definite to be a mentioned sweet…. One of the best bread alwa that I’ve had…. Was extremely superb!!

                                        

Altogether a satisfying wedding biryani worth the money…

There is a very limited menu list that includes mutton biryani, chicken biryani, liver pepper fry, and chicken 65.

                                          

Once we get the token the biryani is served hot along with onion raitha and dalcha...

There are no tables for you to sit in a relaxed manner and have your biryani .. either you can stand and eat or sit on a few stools that they have here…

                                         

                                         

The mutton biryani had a lot of mutton pieces to them.. the pieces were small in size and well cooked … the biryani as a whole was ok... I wouldn’t say it was super, but to have it hot and with the mutton pieces enhanced its taste…. The portion of the biryani is a little less which was a downside for me... The liver pepper fry was good just like any other pepper fry ….

                                        

A different experience and a quick biryani that you should definitely try…

The pitchu potta koli had a curry leave and turmeric flavor to it .. it was dry and was a good dish...

The mutton chukka tasted excellent with an excellent spiciness to it. With small mutton pieces and red chili, it was a fine dish

The mutton head curry is definitely to be mentioned dish.. usually, the head curry is served with bones but here there were no bones .. having a mutton head curry without bones was my first time and it was superb... The mutton intestine was a Pallipalayam-style dish. Usually, the mutton intestine is served as a fry or gravy but mutton intestine Pallipalayam was also new to me .. Pallipalayam is a famous dish in Kongu cuisine where the meat is tossed with long-cut coconut pieces and red chili.. so having mutton intestine in this style too was a new experience…

The country chicken uppu kari too was a super dish with a good amount of spiciness and saltiness…. A must-try dish The mutton liver with the dash of pepper granules blasting in ur mouth was just wow… The white rice and the country chicken kulambu went along so well … the country chicken kulambu is a fine dish that you should not miss… After you finish your meal you are given a birni payasam which is sweet and tasted good… Altogether an excellent meal worth trying. I recommend this place to heavy eaters and those who enjoy and cherish eating ….

The tandoori fish is tandoori-cooked paara fish served with mayonnaise and mint chutney… although it tasted good the other dishes were better than this ….

                                         

The crumb-fried prawn was served with mustard sauce and chili sauce which also tasted good The crusted fish was the best dish of them all.. paara fish cut without bones and served with a spinach paste and basmati rice.… the fish was crispy on the out and soft inside mixed with the spinach paste it tasted extremely delicious…

                                        The chicken parmigiana is a chicken layer loaded with cheese .. this also tasted good and different … Best when had hot ….

                                       

The Nasil Goreng is Malay fried rises served with a fried egg and shrimp pappad.. the taste was good and there was a slight dry fish taste to the rice since the rice was tossed with dry fish sauce …

For dessert we had mango cheesecake which was heaven the thin mango layer with the cheesecake is a must try The coconut pudding was served chill … it was creamy and topped with dry fruits and coconut .. the best dessert that I’ve had in a while .. if you are here this is a must-try dish because we don’t get this pudding and all places. A must-try.

Since the raajavirunthu special meals combo was a hit here I thought Of trying it out.. costing 700 rs, the raajavirunthu special meals combo had chicken soup, biryani of our choice ( mutton or chicken), white rice, mutton chukka, chicken chukka, fish Manchurian, egg Kaima, fish fry, chicken tandoori, chicken tangiri kebab, boiled egg, prawn chukka, mutton kulambu, chicken kulambu , fish kulambu, buttermilk …

The portions were limited … and only a few dishes like the prawn chukka, mutton chukka, and tangiri leg kebab tasted exceptional.. All the other dishes were average … but was this special meal combo with 700 rs is a big question here …

                                          

                                          

For this price UBM hotel near erode serves more dishes and more quantity or if you go to the barbecue nation we could get a lot more options for this price … Although the food is good, for 700 rs I don’t think you should go with this combo instead you can try some other dishes individually…..
