The Idlies are hot and very soft.

This small place is run by a 70-year-old lady who has been doing this for almost 30 years now. Breakfast here is served from 7 am to 11 am.

You cannot expect anything fancy here. Other than idlis there is dosa, and fried egg varieties like an omelet, full boil, half boil, etc.

A very economical breakfast where you get idly with sambar, and 2 kinds of chutney for 6 rs, dosa for 10 rs, and egg varieties for 10 rs. My wishes to Saroja Patti, who even at the age of 70 is working so hard to provide economical breakfast to people.

This mess is run by a husband and wife, where the wife takes care of all the cooking. Though they have helpers to assist them, they insist on themself cooking so that the taste doesn't change.

This mess serves only lunch and their lunch service starts from 12.30 and goes on till 5pm. They serve chicken biryani on Wednesdays and mushroom biryani on Fridays. Other days they serve veg and non-veg meals and a variety rice.

                                         The non-veg meals are priced at 90 INR and they tasted wonderful. The non-veg meals has a cup of chicken, chicken gravy, mutton gravy, fish gravy, and rasam. All the gravies tasted good. The chicken gravy or kulambu was better than the mutton kulambu. The cup chicken also tasted great. I also ordered chicken pallipalayam and mutton chukka.., I could smell the cold-pressed oil in these dishes. The chicken pallipalyam and mutton chukka tasted amazing and they can just be mixed with plain rice and eaten without any gravy. The chicken pallipalayam was better than the mutton chukka. The karandi omellete, which is a specialty in this mess was also tasty.

                                        

                                        

Altogether, good food that, definitely needs to be tried in Erode. And you are missing out a true kongu nadu cuisine flavors if you still haven't.

If you are expecting varieties of dishes then this is not the place for you. Mani mess situated in erode is a small mess run by these humble couples that have been running for 55 years. They serve breakfast and lunch. You can't expect varieties here. For breakfast, they serve dosa and mutton intestine curry and for lunch, you get rice with chicken.

On Tuesdays, they have mutton kothukari as an extra dish. I went to have breakfast and to me the food was good. a dosa that makes you feel that it was home-cooked, the same goes for the mutton intestine. Simplicity at its Best

We tasted most of the dishes, he liked the idly and country chicken kulambu and so did I . He also liked the duck curry which is a specialty to this region.

Mixed reactions is a word that I can say about this place. A Dhaba-styled restaurant that has a lovely ambiance, huts, and plants.

                                       

Not all dishes were great... the dishes that I liked were the garlic naan, Guntur chicken, and the nethili 65. The other dishes were just ok to me.

                                       

The chicken biryani wasn’t a biryani. my mistake of ordering a biryani at a Dhaba, it’s like asking for a full meals at KFC ( Too much?) anyway the pigeon pepper fry was also not to the mark and so was the kadaai chicken.

                                      

But for a Dhaba, I think this food is justified. This place can be tried, if you want o try dishes like the pigeon, rabbit, quail give this place a try ... you may like them.

A pleasant stay is a word verdict. We stayed at Sterling Kodai Lake , which was close to the lake. You could just walk or rent a cycle from the resort to go around the lake. Since there was a membership., the rent for the room was just 1550 INR per day. you could get in touch with sterling resorts for the membership details.

                                        

                     

                                      

                                      

We did not try the food from the resort, since we wanted to eat out. We also ordered takeaway.

                                        

                                        

So the rooms were very pleasant, spacious. There is a hall, a pantry with water, tea powder, coffee powder, milk powder, sugar and a tea/ coffee maker. The washroom was also clean and nice. The bedroom was cozy provided with a heater. 

                                       

                                       

 The ambiance of the resort was so relaxing. With the chill climate, a walk inside the resort itself was soothing. They had a herbal garden, a children’s play area, a lot of indoor games & VR games. Some of the games here are free and a few of them are charged.

                                      

I won’t be telling anything about the food here because I hadn’t had a chance to try them out. Because we only took the rooms and preferred having food out. ( maybe some other day)

                                      

                                      

Altogether a pleasant and relaxed stay with a great view of Kodai Lake.
