Phone : +9196559 77977 A kongunadu cuisine food haven. Mani gounder mess in Tiruppur has been serving homely non-veg food to its customers for almost a decade now. They have recently changed their location, the new location isn’t difficult to find because it is just nearby. Opposite the LG showroom.

All of their dishes tasted amazing. With not much spiciness and aptly balancing other flavors, it is just a home-cooked meal. I tried most of the dishes like the mutton biryani which I felt was ok, just like a normal biryani. Then I tried egg & mutton intestine fry, mutton kothu kari, chicken Chinthamani, chicken dry, mutton fry... All the dishes tasted amazing. What amazed me was the softness of the mutton pieces.. they were so tender and so tasty. The thick gravy went so good along with white rice and so did the thanni kulambu. A sumptuous meal that will stay in my memory for long.

Loved the pork chop suey. although it had only the pork fat in them, the fat melted in my mouth. The momos also tasted great and that too dipping them in the chili sauce was good. The meat inside these momos was very little that was a downside for me. But altogether a great food.

Running for 84 to 86 years Sivaji military hotel that is situated in Jayanagar, Bangalore is one of the sought places by customers who flock here for their breakfast and lunch.
The Donne biryani is the most popular dish here. Although I did not have a chance to try their mutton biryani because it wasn’t ready yet so, we had no options but to go for chicken biryani. The biryani was brought in a Donne, Donne is a dry leaf packing by which temple Prasadam (sacrament) is offered to the people. So since this biryani comes in a Donnie., it’s called Donnie Biryani. Although a little dry, I liked the taste of this biryani. It had Very mild masalas and flavors. The curd pachadi with cucumber and onions tasted good. The gravy which was thick when mixed along the biryani tasted super. Squeezing a few drops of lemon into the biryani enhanced its taste and I loved it.

More than this Donnie biryani, I loved the mutton dry.. the meat was very soft and the mutton itself was tossed in pepper which enhanced its taste to the next level. The taste was so wonderful. This mutton mixed with white rice would have been heaven. If at all you are reading this and want to try Shivaji military hotel, please go for the side dishes with white rice and that too the mutton dry.
The chicken chops with its gravy tasted wonderful too and would have gone too good with white rice. By the time I finished, I realized that there were people standing nearby to take my seat because the place was packed. People were also waiting in queue to get a table. A lovely meal that needs to be definitely tried.

I also wanted to take a few shorts of how they make the mutton biryani. So in order to do that I need to be at their place around 3.30 or 4 early morning..that’s what I thought. So I reached Bangalore the previous evening. Took up a room in madiwala along with Krishi, who is my 10-year-old cameraman ( I don’t have much of a choice . Do I?) I also scheduled Ola cab for the next morning around 3.15. The cab arrived perfectly on time and we started on time.

We reached mani dum biryani around 3 .45 in the morning.., by the time we got there the cooking process had started and the meat was being cooked. Krishi and I were the first people to arrive there. Because of the chill climate, we were drawn towards the fire, cooking the biryani.., the flavor of the meat at its masala could be felt now itself

Once the meat was cooked to perfection, the rice was transferred to different vessels and washed. The rice was then added to the big vessel where the biryani was being cooked.

But this time there were no flames to the fire but just the heat from the charcoal.., with this heat the rice along with meat water and masala was continuously stirred till the water evaporated. Ghee was poured into the biryani which was continuously being stirred and the lid was put on top quickly. A soon as they put on the lid, all the hot charcoal from the bottom was put on top of the lid.
By this time, the crowd had started to arrive and they were standing in queue for their share of biryani. Once the dum was done, exactly at 6 am the charcoal from the lid was cleared and the biryani was made ready to be served. The first spoon of the biryani was taken and fed to the fire by offering a little prayer On the other side, tokens were given. After getting these tokens, customers came to this big vessel where the mutton biryani was being distributed. Cucumber, lemon, and curd pachadi were placed nearby so that the customers could help themselves.

My first-time experience in having a hoskote biryani that too at 6 am. The quantity of the biryani was justified. The taste was good with generous mutton pieces. Though I 've had better biryani than this, having a hot mutton biryani at 6 in the morning in the cold climate was AMAZING. A little bit of lemon squeezed into the biryani had a lovely taste to it, and I really loved it. The curd pachadi also tasted good when mixed with biryani.

One thing that amazed me was the workers there. They all did their part perfectly without any instructions. And everything was done to the timings perfectly. Altogether a lovely experience of traveling so far for this biryani and to have it hot in a chill climate was a bliss. Will return to hoskote to try out other morning biryani shops.

#itaste #theweddingbiryani #biryani பந்தி முறையில் பிரியாணி செய்து பரிமாறி அசத்தி வரும் ஒரு உணவகம் - THE WEDDING BIRYANI - Velachery - Chennai Google Maps Location; https://www.google.com/maps/place/TWB-+The+Wedding+Biryani/@12.9796185,80.2167901,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x3a525d46989d9f6d:0xcdb116c089f5f847!8m2!3d12.9796133!4d80.2189788

A wedding feast-themed restaurant where biryani is served. Usually at a Muslim wedding biryani is served. They wouldn’t have even white rice or gravies just the biryani with dalcha and onion pachadi. This same theme is followed here, a different concept and an excellent business strategy. The restaurant itself is a hall where tables and chairs are arranged in columns. While u enter the hall, u have to pay and get the token. You get a yellow card for chicken biryani and a red card for mutton biryani. Other starters can be added at an extra cost. Once u get the token you walk in and sit like you do at an actual panthi ( feast) as soon as u sit, the banana leaf is placed and as u sprinkle water to wipe your leaf the waiters come in line with all items. For sweet it’s bread halwa, then it’s curd pachadi, then tangy brinjal curry, a fried chicken leg piece, then mutton or chicken biryani.. The mutton biryani had a lot of mutton pieces in them. The biryani rice used was long grain basmati rice. The masalas for the biryani were apt, not overpowering and it was so perfect. The mutton pieces were so tender and tasted sumptuous. I felt the biryani could be eaten alone without mixing curd or gravies .

The curd pachadi, was creamy and good. The brinjal curry had a nice tangy flavor to it and was good when mixed with the biryani. The downside was that the chicken leg piece was not tender and the taste was just normal. . The bread halwa was excellent too. Totally an awesome Muslim wedding-like experience. This is why we should have more Muslim friends to get a feast like this more often. Cost of mutton biryani platter - 400/- Chicken biryani platter - 300/-

STREET FOOD CHENNAI - Visiting Some Of The Chaat Shops In Mint Street - ...

STREET FOOD CHENNAI - Visiting Some Of The Chaat Shops In Mint Street - Indian Street Foods Also, known as little north India, Sowcarpet has a large settlement of people from north India who came for business purposes. The mint street which is one of the oldest streets in Chennai runs from George Town to Washermanpet. Bustling with commercial shops dealing with retail as well as wholesale. Most of the business places here are owned by North Indians and to cater to their food needs a lot of street food outlets have come up.

Although I did not have much time to visit most shops, I chose a few and tasted some of the street food which of course I am trying out for the first time. Some did amaze me and some were a disappointment.
First, it was the kachori at kakada Ramprasad sweets. The kachori along with sweet sauces tasted fabulous. Although I did not get to try out their hot jalebi because it was over by the time I went to order... Maybe there is always the next time.

My next stop was at ‘ Navarang chat bandhar ‘ in Perumal Mudali Street, a small street inside mint street(running parallel). Here first I had bread bajji with 3 kinds of sauces one being tomato, the other mint chutney. The hot bajji along with the sauces went along so good together and tasted great. The next snack that I had was a chili bajji. The bajji, coated with mashed potatoes and then coated with flour batter and fried. This too with the sauces was great. A true snack worth the try.

The next stop was at ‘ jay vadapav’ in the mint steet. Although there were many options for vada-pav I chose the cheese vada-pav. With a hot potato bonda, the vada-pav tasted normal. There was nothing special about it.

The next place that we visited was ‘ poha wala’ the poha or flattened rice is mainly used to make an ovul sweet in Tamilnadu. Although I've had avulaki in Bangalore, this poha was truly different. The poha was mixed with onions, groundnuts, some pomegranate, and all the flavors bursting in your mouth at once is bliss.... a must-try snack.

Prices of snacks that I tried-
Kachori - 35 inr per piece
Bread Baji - 20/-
Chili Baji- 20/-
Cheese vada pav- 35/-
Poha- 35/-

The kizhi parotta or the banana leaf parotta is a definite try at this Eatery. The kizhi parotta is done in many different ways, here they sandwich parotta with layers of chicken curry along with chicken pieces, a full boil ( fried egg) topped with a lot of chicken gravy. Usually, 2 to 3 parottas are used. The sandwich is then tied like a bundle with banana leaf and then placed in the hot pan or tawa to slowly heat up. The parotta gets soaked in the chicken curry which gives a lovely taste to it. The best kizhi parotta that I have had.

They also have the bamboo biryani., which was cooked biryani stuffed inside bamboo along with chicken curry which is then steamed for about fifteen minutes. I liked the taste of the biryani but was not able to distinguish that bamboo flavor.., it tasted like a normal biryani. Nevertheless, it did taste good when mixed with the chicken fry.
They also have Kari dosa, tandoori, and fish fry which they serve at night. The place is totally worth the visit and you definitely gotta try the kizhi parotta.

The dishes that I usually order are Phuket fish which is balcha fish tawa fried and topped with a delicious sauce... the thing about this Phuket fish is that the skin is crispy with a soft flesh together with the sauce it tasted amazing.

The shredded lamb with bell pepper ,a favourite dish is also something that I have been ordering from the beginning. The lamb is not of the usual cut, they are shredded , fried and then tossed. It is crispy as well as tastes great.

The chicken Hawaiian salad also my regular is a salad with myoneese cabbage tomato pineapple and chicken it’s a little sweet and a lovely salad. The drums of heaven and Guntur koli were amazing too .

The only disappointment was the tandoori platter ., it was awfully prepared and for the price of 850/- inr I would have had a non veg buffet at barbeque nation or absolute bbq.

The other dishes that i usually have here is the biryani which is good and the Indian breads with non veg gravies are good too. If I want to go for something light I would always choose the sandwich.

The curd rice should be definitely mentioned because if it’s amazing taste . The warm curd rice with garlic pickle shouldn’t be missed.
The desserts like the chocolate samosa with ice cream and chocolate brownie with ice cream were amazing too.

The interiors of this place were quite nice... With palm trees as pillars on the veranda, cut trees as tables and chairs this place will be to your liking.

I went to have breakfast and was surprised to get Thattu idly when I ordered for idly. usually, we don't get thattu idly in these regions. The idly was soft and went really good along with coconut chutney and tomato chutney which was similar to homemade. The sambar was given in a small brass bucket, which also is new to hotels in these regions.

The onion roast that I had was just like any other roast that you get in and hotels. The coffee was strong and tasted excellent.

They serve veg food only. breakfast, lunch. dinner along with snacks, milkshakes are available. A sure to visit place when you are travelling from Karur to erode or vice-versa.

Usually, when a rooster loses in a fight, it’s either badly wounded or dead. This is mainly due to the knife cuts in the fight. So immediately after the rooster dies, they cook it hence called the kochai kari.

Kochai, is not cooked in the usual way. Its meat is very hard and so has to be cooked for more than an hour., more time required than that of mutton.

Kochai Karthi kadai has been cooking and serving kochai to its customers for almost 10 years, the owner stated going to rooster/ cockfight and used to cook the kochai meet and giving to friends and family, and so customers began to come for the specific taste that he gives. Pre-booking is necessary, so don’t miss out on calling him, 3 to 4 hours before going .

There are five spicy levels that can suit your needs.., the owner explains the variety of spice levels, and you can choose from them. Though the kochai biryani was just ok to me, what amazed me was the taste of the manjal vengaya vuruval. It tasted amazing and that too mixed with white rice.., it was heaven. The kocahi sinthamani also tasted superb.. For 1600/- INR you get soup, white rice, chicken kulambu( plain gravy) 300 gm of sinthamani, 300 gm of manja varuval , 300 gm pepper chicken with bones ( this is taken from the kulambu and fried) , 2 types of rasam . A maximum of 3 people is allowed to have this. If you are a foodie and you want to try something different.., then this is the right place for you. This Eatery is situated in salaipudur, near Kodumudi on the Erode to Karur highway.

Since there were no tandoori items available anywhere near that area, the owner has tapped into this niche. They have tandooris, naan varieties, parottas, fried rice, noodles, Biryani, and Chinese-style gravies for parota and naan.

The biryani is available in the afternoons only, the tandoori starts at 2 in the afternoon.. My suggestion is to try the tandoori chicken more than the biryani because the tandoori chicken tasted fantastic. They give salad and Mayonnaise with the chicken and it went so good together. A must-try place if you are traveling from erode to karur or vice-versa or even visiting the Kodumudi temple.....

Google maps location;
https://www.google.com/maps/place/%E0... This eateries name definitely sounds different.., and yes the owner explains the reason behind such a name. ‘Kudal Uruvi ‘ is a nickname given to the owner's granddad by the local people in those days. So not wanting to let go of that profound nickname along with his dad's name Nagaraj , he has named this Eatery Kudal Uruvi Nagaraj.

The breakfast starts around 8 in the morning., although it seemed there was less crowd at that time .., around 9.30 this small place was bussing with customers. Idly and parrota were customers choices and some of them also went for dosa, egg dosa, etc., Non-veg dishes like the mutton intestine kulambu ( Kudal kulambu) and the chicken chops kulambu were very fast-moving. They also had other dishes like the muttonhead curry, mutton chops curry, veg kurma, etc.,

Personally, I loved the Kudal kulambu which tasted so good.., probably one of the best Kudal kulambu I can say. The idly was not hot which was a letdown. The parotta also went so good with the Kudal kulambu. The mutton chops were good but I felt they weren’t soft enough. On the whole a superb breakfast with the best Kudal kulambu. You should definitely try out this place.
