If you are a fish lover, then this is just the place for you. Situated near the vendipalayam barrage - erode, Aatha meen kadai is a place of haven to fish lovers. The fish here are freshwater fishes that are caught in the dam or barrage and cooked or applied with masala and ready to be deep-fried once the order is placed. We could choose from a variety of fishes which are deep-fried and served with some onions and spicy chutney.

                              
The taste of the fried fish with the spicy chutney is just amazing.... For the main course, there is not much of an option. You get unlimited rice with a fish head curry... which is served hot and tastes amazing too. The meals is priced at just 60inr /- including the fish head curry which is very economical. Fish fry per piece is 25 inr Lovey food that tingles your taste buds, fills your stomach, and doesn’t dent your wallet.

All the dishes were good and they had their own taste and spiciness to them. The mutton intestine fry with extra tomato & onion tasted excellent, and so was the kothu parotta... the kothu parotta looked very appealing and I can say was one of the best dishes here. The parottas were excellent too.

                               
With a lot of crushed garlic and spices, the duck was excellent. The only problem you might have is its bones, sometimes it may not be pleasant biting into them. But the taste of the meat will tempt you to. The idly and the parotta weren’t hot which was a letdown for me. Great food and a good place situated on the Namakkal to Karur highway where you can get duck meat with tiffin items at any time of the day.

Hot idlies, soft parottas, exceptional mutton intestine curry, country chicken curry, and its affordable cost are the main reasons for people to flock to Jagadeesan idly shop situated in sattayamputhur in Tiruchengodu.



Jagadeesan idly shop is a small shop with just 2 tables for dine-in. True to the saying size doesn’t matter, this place is always crowded either for dine-in or for takeaways. The idlies were super hot and the first serving for me were idlies and the mutton intestine curry. The combination was just wow.... at first I couldn’t keep my hands on the food because it was super hot .., you could see the steam from the food in the video... next I tried parotta with mutton intestine curry which was also without a doubt amazing.

Then I was served with country chicken curry.. the meat tasted excellent and it was a Geniune country chicken. The mutton chops along with its gravies were good too but I felt the meat was a little chewy. The rates a very much affordable which is the reason so many people from the locality visit this place daily.

Well, let me start at the beginning. Though I prefer a dine-in experience, the Behrouz biryani has only takeaways in Coimbatore. So left with no option we ordered two mutton and two chicken biryani and a chicken tikka kebab.

                                

The packing was so rich and very attractive, inside the larger box was the biryani in another small attractive box, a packed wooden spoon with tissue & sugar-coated fennel seeds for a refresher, and in two separate containers were gulab jamun and curd. 

                                

The biryani was Hyderabadi style but had more masalas and richness to it. The mutton biryani was heaven, tasted so wonderful. The lesser mutton pieces in it were a disappointment. The biryani wasn’t very much spicy, they had that sautéed crunch onion taste to them. 

                               

There was also this creamy biryani wherein cream was infused in the biryani and the taste was different as well as good... The curd raitha had no onions just mint infused into it so it was just plain mint curd. The gulab jamun that came with the biryani tasted excellent too. The chicken tikka kebab was a minced chicken in a cutlet shape, cooked to perfection and so much of flavours to it. It was like eating a mutton Kola urundai ( minced mutton ) In a place where we could get mutton biryani for 180/-to 220/- and chicken biryani from 80/- to 120/- , The Behuroz Biryani is priced at 425 for mutton biryani and 325 for chicken biryani . Though this biryani is on the expensive side... as the name suggests Behrouz ‘ The royal biryani’ not all can take a bite of this richness. I recommend it’s worth the try and for sure you will fall in love with this rich Behrouz Biryani.

The ambiance is great and the food is lovely. The perfect time u can spend with your friends and family. You will have to reserve your table in advance. Make sure to be there on time. To begin with, a charcoal tray is placed on your table where you get to heat up all the barbeque meat like chicken, fish, prawns, and few fruits like pineapple and watermelon veggies like corn, mushrooms, and paneer. You are provided with sauces like mustard, mango, and mayonnaise, mint chutney. A couple of seasonings and oil sprays...









You are served with cheesy potato, which is fried baby potato with Mayonnaise and they tasted amazing. The fried baby corn, the veg cutlet, and the mutton seekh kabab were so delicious .. The main course options too were limitless.. there were soups, chicken biryani, butter chicken, Sri Lankan fish curry, a lot of veg dishes, noodles, etc. You can take your time and try all the dishes with patience because the main course isn’t over yet. There is Chennai style biryani in another counter with a live kitchen where you can choose your meat from a range of meat like duck, rabbit, shark, octopus & squid, prawns, etc... you can combine this meat with veggies that are sautéed in a pan.











No wait it isn’t over yet.... did you forget about the desserts.... well you wouldn’t if you were here at the absolute barbecue.. There were so many desserts options and just the desserts are enough to fill your stomach. Live ice cream counters are there where you can mix your own ice cream with your choice of toppings. There is also another live counter where condensed milk is mixed with strawberry or chocolate sauce spread on a freezing ice stove and rolled to instant ice cream. This isn’t the place for you if you are on diet or you are a tiny eater. The lunch buffet is charged at 769 INR on Wednesday’s to Friday’s for adults and 349 INR for kids

Non-veg items that are available here are chicken fry, chicken leg piece, pigeon, rabbit, duck, mutton intestine, quail. Usually, all these items are kept in those thick gravies. When there is an order , according to the customers liking it’s either served like that or fried with onions and curry leaves and served. Customers usually prefer the fried version because they are tastier as well as served hot. Breakfast starts at 8 am and they have all the non-veg items up & ready by then. For breakfast, there are most of the non-veg items mentioned above available. For lunch, there is parotta along with biryani And for dinner all tiffin varieties.
                               

Though I did not get to taste other non-veg items, my favorite always being the pigeon curry. I was left with no option but to eat chicken fry and leg piece fry. So I had them along with nice soft parottas and the thick gravies. They were so delicious and I understood the reason behind the crowd of customers waiting to dine in or for takeaways......

It was lunchtime and lunch was served in a banana leaf. The seating was in a different hall, not like the dining area which they use for breakfast and dinner. The first item to be served was the chicken soup. A spicy and excellent chicken rasam loaded with pepper that clears your throat when sipped. A lovely soup to begin a meal.

As the chef said, the lunch in Chidambara Vilas begins with a sweet and ends with a sweet, the reason he said was that the customer should begin the meal happily and end it happily so today the sweet was kowni rice halwa. Kowni rice is traditional rice. The halwa tasted like sweet Pongal and was excellent.

Then few vegetable items like the Keerti kootu, banana stem kootu. Beetroot poriyal, pappad, dal vada, yam fry were served which tasted as usual. The okra Mandi was excellent which should be mentioned specifically. The chef in the video has explained how they make the okra Mandi. He said Mandi can be made with any kind of vegetable and today it was okra and channa. The base is the tamarind water and for thinking they have used the water with which rice was soaked. The taste of the okra Mandi was excellent. I could taste the tamarind and I can say the okra Mandi was the best in the vegetable subji’s . The fish fry was kattla fish and they served it with onion and a piece of lemon. The masala was so rich and flavourful. The fish itself was soft and fresh. The combination of these qualities was just wow. Lovely fish fry.

The chicken chukka was excellent too. A different taste than the chukka that I usually have. The masala was excellent and it was so delicious to mix it with rice and eat.

The mutton kulambu, with mutton pieces in them, tasted homemade. My mom used to cook the same mutton kulambu. A good one. Then there was dhal with ghee which I like and it tasted the same way I eat at home. The kaara kulambu is one of the best I could say. Usually, the Kara kulambu would be loaded with tamarind. But here they have used small onions and the taste of tamarind was perfectly balanced, giving a rich taste when mixed with rice. The best I could say. Finally ending the meal with a sweet which was milk payasam. They have used flattened rice in the payasam. The taste was excellent. Altogether a lovely meal that gave an immense satisfaction!!

So to begin my breakfast, I started off with watermelon juice, Pongal, idly & vada.

                                   

                                   
                                    

The idly and the vada were normal that you eat everywhere but the Pongal is the dish that is to be mentioned. The ven Pongal according to me was the best dish in the buffet lineup and also one of the best Pongal that I’ve had. Nevertheless, it is only secondary to the Pongal my wife makes. She does Pongal, vada, moong dhal sambar & chutney that is heaven. So after the Pongal, I went on to appam and sweet coconut milk. The appam is served hot to your table. The coconut milk had a lovely cardamom flavor and mixed with appam, a good taste. The Chettinad veg semiya had a lot of veggies to it and its taste was good too...

                                   
                                   

                                   

                                   

The bread can be made to our choice, so we had bread omelet.., and finally to finish off the meal orid dhal porridge.
Yet again a lovely food from Chidambara Vila’s Heritage Resort.
