To reach this place from Colombo, one can take the Ratnapura or Badulla bus and get down at kuruwita. From kuruwita, the bopath falls is just 3 km away. A tuk-tuk can be taken from here to reach this place.
The are many hotels in this area and if you are planning to spend more than a day then you have a lot of hotels to choose from.
I reached the bopath Ella entrance, the ticket cost is 20 lkr, As I walked in, there is a park-like area leading to the bopath river. From there I walked for 500 meters to reach the main falls. There is a path towards the side which easily leads near the waterfalls.
There was no one around, because of the current pandemic situation. The water was very forceful. You can take a dip here but you have to be very cautious because of the force of the water. I stayed for a while and took a swim. I was not able to go to the place where the water fell because it wasn't too safe. Although I stayed to the sides I could feel the water force pulling me.
After a while, I got dressed packed my bag for returning only to realize that the path I came was no more. The water levels increased which I did not notice before. It was a little difficult to find another way to get to the banks. somehow with great difficulty ( climbing and clinging to rocks), I found my way to the banks.
I wanted to try going on the raft, which I did for 100/- lkr. The water is below your knee depth but if people want to reach the other side without getting wet then the raft ride is fun.
So it was lunchtime, The bopath falls rock chalets hotel, a hotel just near to the falls is the one where I went to have lunch. The front structure was under construction. They have six rooms and a swimming pool with a restaurant. The whole place looks peaceful with the sound of the waterfalls ringing in the ears.
I ordered for the Mongolian noodles and chili pork. The Mongolian noodles came with chicken, squid, pork, and prawns. I requested them to avoid prawns and pork in the noodles. The chili pork looked like deviled pork, coz usually chilli pork is thin layers of pork deep fried. The deviled pork which i got had more soy sauce to it, which affected the taste. I was not happy with its taste. The noodles tasted good though.
The price of noodles was 950 lkr and pork was 800 lkr. BIT EXPENSIVE FOR ITS QUALITY AND QUANTITY
